I turned 26 yesterday, and even though I’m still 4 years away from turning 30, I consistently think about where I am now vs. where I thought I would be at 26. Somethings I accomplished, some I feel might have passed me by and it makes me think, where would I like to be by the time I turn 30.
Thirty will be the next milestone birth year in my life, in a lot of people’s lives really. Hitting milestone ages makes you reflect on your life and where you currently are or want to be.
So I came up with this 30 by 30 list and I thought why not get started now, and see how much of the 30 before 30 manage too squeeze in?
30 THINGS TO DO BEFORE 30
1) BUY MY FIRST HOME
We currently rent and I am constantly looking at the houses out there on the market. Buying our first home is so high on my bucket list it’s no joke! I envision making it our home and having our family there and I honestly cannot wait.
2) TRAVEL
For our honeymoon I got to check out a small part of Europe for the first time in my life and honestly, I have been missing out! I want to travel and see as much of the world as I can not just here in the US but all over Europe and Asia!
3) BEGIN INVESTING
My husband and I talk about investing almost weekly and I definitely want to get a handle on that by 30. Money can be overwhelming and investing can be confusing but once you start actually making money, investing some of that hard earned cash is so important and can only help you grow.
4) TAKE A CROSS COUNTRY ROAD TRIP
I have been to a good handful of states and I love visiting and traveling but what I really have always wanted to do is a cross country road trip through a ton of states that I’ve never been!
5) LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE
My family is hispanic and speaking fluent Spanish I am going to do my best to pass that down to our future kids. My husband is half french Canadian half Brazilian and I would really love to pass those language’s down to our kids. It’s a lot of work to learn a knew language but at least I have family I can call and practice with once I start learning!
6) BUY MYSELF SOMETHING I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED
You know there are those things you want but would never spend that money on like Red Bottoms, an LV bag, or some luxury like that. Well I want to treat myself to something great like that just once!
7) HAVE OUR FIRST KID
My husband and I talk about having kids all the time!!! So I do expect us to start trying soon and honestly I can’t wait to me a mom, so I do hope that before I am 30 I’ll have baby number 1!!!
8) GO SKIING
Believe it or not I have never been skiing/snowboarding anything like that, so before I am 30 I want to go stay in a nice ski resort in Colorado somewhere and learn to ski for the first time.
9) FINISH AND PUBLISH MY BOOK
10) GO ON A SPA RETREAT
I have never been to a spa weekend getaway, I’ve heard about them and I’ve gotten massages and facials but a weekend of pampering sounds like just my cup of tea! Before I’m 30 I would love to spend a weekend at the spa; mud baths, massages, and moreeeee.
11) FINISH MY BACHELORS
I have been working on my degree part time for a while and I cannot wait to be done with it! I am hoping to have this as another check off the bucket list by 30.
12) COMPLIMENT MY PHYSICAL APPEARANCE ONCE A DAY
I have spent years looking in the mirror saying negative things at the reflection starring back at me. The further I go down this fitness journey the more I try the best I can to say positive things and be proud of the improvements and accomplishments I have made regarding my health.
13) TRAIN FOR AND RUN A MARATHON
I am not a runner, I haven’t ever really been a runner so this falls way out of my comfort zone. My love for exercising has helped me grow my interest and the more fit I get the more I want to give this one a try. All I can imagine is getting passed a finish line once running a marathon.
14) LEARN HOW TO COOK WELL
I can kind of cook the basics but really my husband does the majority of the cooking and I want to get better and change that by 30! My future kids deserve more than egg salad sandwiches, pasta, and grilled cheese! I desperately want to learn how to prepare some healthy but delicious meals I can meal prep ahead and have ready for weekly dinners for my family.
15) GET A PHSYCIC READING
I have always wanted to have my cards read or have someone “tell me my future” maybe before my 30th birthday I can go check this one off my bucket list.
16) GO TO A DRIVE IN THEATER
Believe it or not I have never been to a drive in theater but I have always wanted to go to one. The idea to me was always just so great I don’t understand why they aren’t still a thing.
17) TRAVEL SOLO
Traveling solo is a must for a lot of people and something I think you must do at least once in a lifetime! It builds independence and confidence they say it just feels different when you know you’re there alone. You get to see all the sites you want, no compromising on where to go and best of all you’ll learn so much about yourself, it’s definitely a must!
18) TRAVEL TO AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND
Australian and New Zealand are a big thing on my bucket list and there might be a chance I don’t hit this one by 30 but honestly as long as I get to do it once in my life I will be satisfied.
19) SPEND NEW YEARS EVE IN NEW YORK
Manhattan, New York is easily one of my favorite places in the world and even though I have been there many times and throughout many seasons I’ve never been for New Years and I have always wanted to.
20) GET A 5AM MORNING ROUTINE
I have never been an early riser, I have desperately wanted to be able to wake up at 5am, get a workout in before work and have a productive morning all before work. Somehow my body never actually agrees with this desire. Especially when we have kids, there’s no way I will be able to get a workout in after 5pm. `
21) LAST MINUTE SPONTANIOUS TRIP
I love planning trips, however the idea of going to the airport buying a ticket and taking off has always appealed to me. I would love to get to take an unplanned trip and discover a new city without all my research beforehand.
22) HOLD A BABY PANDA
Panda’s are my favorite panda. I have seen them and thanks to my husband I’ve fed them but I have never gotten to hold a baby panda. I would honestly probably cry my eyes out.
23) TAKE A FEW POLE DANCING CLASSES
I have taken one class in the past and it was arguably the best workout I have ever done. I am not trying to be a stripper or anything but it would build up my upper body strength and I would love to take a few classes.
24) BINGE WATCH A SHOW YOU’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE*
I love to watch tv and there are so many shows that I’ve never seen but always wanted to!
25) MARDI GRAS IN NEW ORLEANS
I have always wanted to go to New Orleans for Mardi Gras because let’s be real its a once in a life time kind of experience. I would also love to do it with friends and family and just have so much fun.
26) START YOUR DREAM BUSINESS OR JOB
I want to work a job that I love to attend everyday! Something that makes me want to wake up in the morning and doesn’t make me want to scream when I get home!
27) VOLUNTEER FOR A CAUSE YOU CARE ABOUT
I hate to say it but I haven’t volunteered for something since maybe high school. I used to love going to volunteer with injured horses and pet them and feed them for a few hours. I want to get back into doing something where I am dedicating time to thinking about others or animals.
28) EXPERIENCE THE NORTHERN LIGHTS
I tried to cross this off the list in Northern Ireland for our honeymoon but no such luck so I will keep on trying!
29) ENJOY A MEAL AT A MICHELIN STARRED RESTAURANT
I love food! LOVE IT and eating at a great restaurant really is just the best of the best. So getting to go to a Michelin starred restaurant really would check off an item from the ol’ bucket list.
30) MAKE A 40 BEFORE 40 LIST
Make a new list and set new goals for the next decade of your life!
If you’re trying out one of my 30 before 30’s comment below and let me know how it went! Don’t forget to Live your best life! Also I didn’t add skydiving to my list because I went for my 21st birthday but if you’ve never been then I highly recommend.
Some great suggestions! I think solo travelling and volunteering are great ideas – really gives you some perspective on the world! I recently moved to Australia so was hoping to travel there and in New Zealand, but we’re currently under lockdown so that will have to wait a bit! 😅😅😅
