The Orange Theory Fad

I gave Orange Theory a try. I know, I know, it’s a huge fitness fad right now so I had to give it a shot. I have a lot of friends and family who have done orange theory and absolutely love it and have lost a substantial amount of weight throughout the process, so I figured why not.

First off, holy hell.

That is the most intense work out ever. What I love is that they give you different levels for the work out. Which is great because it allows you to work your way up little by little. No one starts off running a mile without breaking a sweat and its great that they cater to every step of the workout process.

My favorite thing has to be the heart rate monitor, first of all… Genius. You’re constantly pushing yourself to see your name in orange or red. The color coordination allows you to know what you’re aiming for without having to really learn the science behind it. Yes, theres a science to Orange Theory.

The whole point of orange theory is to metabolically charge your body, it’s how you’re still running a fast metabolism 24-36 hours after your work out.

The fact is that there has to be a science behind your work out, and when you hear it out loud it makes sense that science would help you find success in weight loss. The science behind orange theory is called EPOC (Excess Post Exercise Oxygen Consumption). Read their website if you’re interested because to see the words put together it makes sense.

The Theory behind Orange Theory is challenging your body at the perfect intensity, forcing your body to work harder to recover the oxygen it lost throughout the workout. By doing that its kick starts the metabolism to help you continue burning those calories.

Now I’m not going to talk about how it’s worked for me because after two classes I’m not all that far into my success story yet but I can say it’s working for me throughout the work out. You can feel it.

The first class is free and I have to say I highly recommend giving it a try.

What do you have to lose, it’s only an hour.

  1. I tried it three years ago when I was looking to change my fitness routine. It’s concept is clever and the instructor was very encouraging, but for some reason, I didn’t take to it. I ended up in a martial arts class instead and I’m still there.
